Don’t give up your day job, Bill

Google is cool, innovative, stylish and just a little bit tasty. Microsoft is grumpy and ugly. Alright, we all need a bit of Bill but there’s no need to admit it to anyone. So, why is everyone still banging on about Bing?

I don’t know the exact figures (if you want them, Google it) but I do know, Google has about an 85 per cent market share. That is massive. Well done to Microsoft for buying Yahoo – that gives them, oh, about five per cent. Yes, I know that’s massive in terms of the whole wide world but next to Google, Bing is just a fly on an elephants back waiting to be swatted.

My problem with Bing is not that it’s pointless (which it is) but that it’s ugly. It looks like they’ve pritsticked Bill’s holiday snap to the homepage. Plus, it doesn’t work. Or at least I assume so since it’s essentially Yahoo (I couldn’t get passed the vomit inducing home page).

Yahoo rested on its laurels and let Google take over the world. Whilst Google designed, developed, innovated, Yahoo sat back and had a nice cup of tea. Great purchase, Bill.

Bing may be a lot of things; styleless, pointless, Chandler from Friends, but it’s not Google. And never will be. I hope this can be the final word on the matter.
